CEO to Speak on Biofuels
Scott Laughlin, CEO of Zymetis, will be one of four panelists on the Biofuels sector at the 5th Annual Emerging Growth Conference. Mr. Laughlin will share his views on the market drivers, trends, and political landscape of the emerging biofuels market with as many as 400 fellow CEOs, as well as private and public equity investors. The Emerging Growth Conference is hosted by America’s Growth Capital (ACG), a national, emerging growth focused research, trading and investment banking firm. The discussion about Biofuels will open the conference.
The Panel will be moderated by ACG’s Zack Lesko, Research Analyst and author of the investor report Clean Tech 101. Lesko’s report is an ambitious primer on business opportunities in the alternative energy sector and well worth the read. Regarding Biofuels, Lesko’s report states that “second-generation technologies represent, at this point, the most compelling opportunities” and that “cellulosic ethanol technologies represent a several-fold improvement in yield, while at the same time, do not compete for food crops or prime arable land resources”.
Overall, the report concludes that “the alternative energy technologies highlighted… represent not only the potential to solve the incremental energy needs of the U.S., but also to meaningfully decrease – or even eradicate – our dependence on energy imports (e.g., foreign oil).”
